What’s the one thing you need to do in order to have good health?
Most common answers would be:
- A proper diet
- Regular Check ups
- Taking Vitamins
These are all good don’t get me wrong but they are not nearly as important as the one thing I’m going to talk about in this article, and it’s something that all the doctors ignore yet there have been scientific studies to back up what I’m about to tell you. All discredited because well quite frankly it’s not as profitable as selling pills for every illness known.
When I tell you what it is you might even think I’m crazy because we have been told our whole lives that the only way to take care of your health is through identifying the illness and attacking it with drugs or surgery.
However nature is not that simplistic, all living organisms are much more complex than that.
If you take care of this one thing you will get sick less, you will recover from illness faster and you will live a long and happy life…
What is it?
See? I told you, you think I’m crazy… But hear me out for a second here.
Our bodies don’t have a bunch of separate parts, it’s one giant machine with a bunch of moving interconnected parts, and our mind is not excluded from it, in fact it’s the central part of the whole system, we all know that.
What happens to your body when you’re really happy? Do you breathe slowly, slouch your shoulders and move with very little energy? NO!
Quite the opposite, it’s almost impossible to not breathe faster, move faster and even talk on a higher pitch.
This happens all the time, we feel with our whole body…
So when you’re happy and fulfilled or moving towards fulfillment you not only tend to take better care of your body your body also takes better care of you, but you don’t have to take my word for it, like I said there have been scientific studies to back all of this up.
Norman Cousins, author of “Anatomy of an Illness as Perceived by the Patient: Reflections on Healing and Regeneration” spent 12 years with over 2,000 hospital patients. He noticed time and time again, that once the patient was diagnosed (had a label that represented immediate danger to his life) he became worse…
Labels like “cancer”, “heart disease” and “multiple sclerosis” tend to cause panic that would lead to helplessness and depression that would impair the effectiveness of their immune system.
At the same time his Norman’s studies proved that if the patient was freed from these “labels” a corresponding boost in their immune systems would kick in.
Also we all know about the results of the “placebo effect”.
You still don’t buy it? Not to worry, here is Doctor Lisa Rankin:
What’s the takeaway?
Absolutely you should exercise, you should eat right, you should check your overall health on a regular basis but more importantly you have to be doing the things that make you happy, how do you do that?
Just ask yourself and answer as is you were a child…
Before you were lied to, before you were tricked into believing that you can accomplish things by being “reasonable” or “realistic” which is another term for mediocre and half assed…
Think about every major breakthrough in human history…
The one thing they have in common is they were not “reasonable”…
It wasn’t reasonable for two brothers to say “We are going to build a machine that files!”, it was not reasonable for a man to say “I’m going to create a carriage that moves without horses!” because all progress depends on the unreasonable.
Experience that boldness you felt when you were a child and the belief that there were no limitations.
And you will find what makes you happy.
